Behind the stellar pitching of senior Conner Brower the Panthers defeated the Covenant Christian Chargers 5-1 in the nightcap of Tuesday’s non-league doubleheader. Brower pitched into the 6th inning, allowing only one run while striking out three. Chase Brown made his season debut coming off an injury and picked up the save with 1 2/3 innings of scoreless relief. Seniors Brett Taylor and Nathan Hughes led the Panther offense, Taylor picked up 3 hits and drove in 1 run while Hughes had 2 hits including a double while scoring 2 runs and collecting 2 RBI’s. Brenden Pelton also added an RBI single in the third inning the scored Hughes with the first run of the game. In the first game of the night CP dropped a 9-8 decision despite the fact that they rallied down 5-0 at one point to take the lead. Quinton Martin led the offense with 3 hits and 2 RBI’s , while Aidan Martin and Connor Brower each added 2 hits. CP now travels to Greenville on Thursday, taking on the Yellow Jackets in a non-league doubleheader.
