The Panthers hosted Hopkins on Monday and lost a 10-9 decision with the Vikings scoring the winning run in the top of the seventh inning after CP had battle back from a 7-1 score to tie the game two different times in the late innings. Panther pitching struggled to find the plate, walking 12 batters leading to 6 of the runs Hopkins scored. Gabe Couturier started on the mound and was a bright spot for the Panthers, throwing 4 1/3 innings while striking out 3 and allowing 3 earned runs. the offense was lead by Brett Taylor, Nathan Hughes and Logan Serba who each had 2 hits, both of Taylor’s hits were doubles leading to 2 RBI’s. Brenden Pelton also chipped in with 2 RBI’s. The lost evens the Panther’s record at 1-1 on the young season, they travel to Newaygo on Tuesday for their final game before spring break weather permitting.
