Multiple Teams · Schall signs with Aquinas

Aquinas College men’s basketball program and head coach Dave Hammer have signed Ryan Schall to the 2013 recruiting class.  Schall, a 6’0 point guard from Belmont, MI played at Comstock Park High School.

Schall had an impressive high school career.  As a three year varsity starter, he helped lead the team to three consecutive OK Blue Conference Championships and a Class B District Title.  Career achievements/awards include:  Detroit Free Press Top 100, AP All State First Team (Senior), AP All State Honorable Mention (Junior), GR Press Dream Team First Team, Bank Hoops All-State First Team, Two Time All Area-First Team, Two Time OK Blue All-Conference First Team and Honorable Mention as a Sophomore.

Ryan was a MHSAA Scholar Athlete finalist, recipient of the West Michigan Officials Association/Dan Nameth scholarship and a Three Time Academic All-State Selection.

Schall was team captain and team MVP as a Senior and Junior.  As a senior he averaged 22.6 pts, 3.9 rebounds, 6.8 assists, and shot 82 percent from the free throw line.  He also accomplished a career high of 34 points in a single game.  He was the second highest scorer for the area, 2nd place in the state for free throws made, and the second highest in the area for assists.  Schall finished his career at Comstock Park as the leading all time scoring leader with 1,051 points.

Leading into his senior year, Ryan played AAU basketball for the West Michigan Lakers. Schall had the opportunity to travel with his team to tournaments all over the Midwest and as far away as Las Vegas, NV for Nationals.  Schall also played two other sports while at Comstock Park, three years in Tennis and four years in Baseball.  In Tennis, Ryan played 2nd Doubles and was First Team All-Conference, Academic All-State and All-Area Honorable Mention and was State Runner-up in the MHSAA State Tennis Tournament. Schall also earned Academic All-State in baseball.

Schall finished high school with a 3.91 GPA, was honored on the Highest Honor Roll each year, and was a member of the National Honor Society.  Ryan also received the Comstock Park’s Physical Education Award.  He was a member of the CP Student Volunteers, earning a bronze award for his many volunteer hours in the community.  His volunteer activities included:   youth basketball coach and referee, as well as a student mentor.  He also worked a part-time job since his sophomore year.

Ryan is planning on majoring in Accounting at Aquinas College.
